ALPHARETTA - Blount Construction will be paid a little more than $913,000 to pave sections of 11 roads in Alpharetta.
The Marietta company was awarded the city's annual milling and resurfacing contract at the Sept. 2 City Council meeting. Two years ago it was a subcontractor on the North Point Parkway reconstruction project, handling the soil-cement application on the outside lanes, considered critical for the road's stability.
The five bids received by the city ranged from Blount's low bid to a high bid of $1.2 million. All of the roads will have two inches milled and resurfaced with two inches of asphalt, which Public Works and Engineering Director John Moskaluk said will extend the life of the roads.
The 11 roads at the top of the city's priority list are:
Haynes Bridge Road - east of Haynes Valley Court to city limits;
Douglas Road – McGinnis Ferry Road to city limits;
McGinnis Ferry Road - east of Ga. 400 to Union Hill Road (southern lane only);
Hopewell Plantation - Cogburn Road to approximately the first speed hump;
Lansburgh Turn - cul-de-sac to approximately 150 feet west;
Wills Road - Old Milton Parkway to Burnett Way;
Rockmill Road - Kimball Bridge Road to Seale Drive;
Manning Road - Academy Street to end;
Rolling Mist Court - cul-de-sac to cul-de-sac;
Lake Windward Drive - Webb Bridge Road to north of pool house;
South Kimball Bridge Crossing - North Pine Drive to eastern intersection with Kimball Bridge Road.
