Cobb EMC ranks high in satistfaction

In the recently published 2008 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study by J.D. Power and Associates, Cobb EMC was ranked in the top 15 southern, midsize electric utility companies for overall customer satisfaction.

The report also said that Cobb EMC was ranked in the top five companies for power quality and reliability and in the top ten for price (which is based on fairness of prices offered and availability of pricing options). According to the U.S. Department of Energy, Cobb EMC has bucked a national trend where electric rates increased by more than 28 percent between 1994 and 2007. During the same period, Cobb EMC members' costs declined by 6 percent when averaging decreases seen by residential and commercial customers. Cobb EMC's own rate record within the industry is exceptional, having gone 15 years before 2007 without an increase. In fact, Cobb EMC has rebated $33 million to members since 1994.

In addition, Cobb EMC was also ranked in the top 15 companies for corporate citizenship, billing and payment and communication with its members.

The report went on to conclude that overall satisfaction with electric utility companies is increasing due to better customer service and more bill payment options. Cobb EMC offers a variety of bill payment options to members, including online payment with check or debit card, automatic deduction from a bank account and traditional payment methods.

The study measures customer satisfaction with electric utility companies by examining six key factors: power quality and reliability; price; billing and payment; corporate citizenship; communications; and customer service. The study ranks large and midsize utility companies in four geographic regions: East, Midwest, South and West. Companies in the midsize utility segments serve between 125,000 and 499,999 residential customers, while companies in the large utility segment serve 500,000 or more residential customers.
