FORSYTH COUNTY - Local law enforcement will now be able to aid the City of Johns Creek in times of emergency.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 12 to place a law enforcement mutual aid agreement with the City of Johns Creek on a future consent agenda. Deputy Michael Honiker said the purpose of the agreement was to legally be able to render aid to the city.

"It times of a natural disaster," he said, "we would be able to render aid. You have to have a signed agreement to be able to do this. Unless there is some kind of emergency or natural disaster, this will agreement will probably never affect us."

Commissioner Jim Harrell said he felt this type of agreement was important.

"If they need help," he said, "we need to help them. We need to be a good neighbor."

County Attorney Ken Jarrard said he was "very comfortable" with this agreement.
