College of Charleston

• Shannon Cherry of Roswell receives congratulations from Symposium organizer Dr. Tracey Burkett, associate professor of Sociology at the College of Charleston, for her first place paper award. She was one of seven Presbyterian College students to participate at the Carolina Undergraduate Social Sciences Symposium held at the College of Charleston. More than 70 college students from South Carolina presented papers or displayed posters at this annual conference. Cherry's paper, "Social Class and Charitable Behavior," tied for first place in the paper competition. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Cherry of Roswell.

University of Alabama

• Jordan Gerheim, son of John and Wendy Gerheim of Alpharetta, recently received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law. While there Jordan was a member of the Alabama Law Review, elected as both President of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and Associate Justice on the Honor Court, and represented his peers on the Student Bar Association. Jordan graduated from both Milton High School and The University of Georgia. He plans to take the bar exams for Alabama, Florida and Mississippi, and has accepted an associate position with Lyons, Pipes and Cook P.C., in Mobile, Ala.

Auburn University

• Zachary Waddell of Roswell, and future construction management major at Auburn University, was recently named the recipient of the R.K. Redding Construction Scholarship at the McWhorter School of Building Science's annual awards ceremony. Waddell was a team captain of the Roswell High School football team, and recipient of the physics VIP student award. He recently began an internship with R.J. Griffin & Co.

Georgia Tech

• Georgia Tech - Dean's list spring semester: Cameron Kavoosifar of Alpharetta. He also graduated from the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech.

University of South Carolina - Callie Rabun, a 2004 graduate of Milton, made a 4.0 for the fall semester at University of South Carolina. She has been accepted into the USC Doctorate Program for Physical Therapy. Lexie Rabun, a 2007 graduate of Milton, made the dean's list fall semester at University of South Carolina.

Agnes Scott College - Andrea Goodman of Alpharetta was placed on the dean's honor list. She is a graduate of Northview High School and the daughter of Kenneth Goodman and Doris Goodman.

Saint Mary's College - Shealeen Cleary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy B. Cleary of Alpharetta, was named to the fall semester dean's list.

Brenau University - The following Alpharetta students into national honor society Phi Kappa Phi: Staci Copses, David Morrison, Laura Uria, Lindsey Calhoun.

Emory University - The following local students received honors for spring 2007 semester.

Johnson and Wales University - 2008 winter term dean's list: Calvin Small Smith of Roswell, who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in food service management; Matt Frommer of Alpharetta, who is pursuing an associate degree in Culinary Arts.

DePaul University - Audrey Butler of Alpharetta was named to winter quarter dean's list.

Mars Hill College - Receiving degrees during the spring commencement: Christopher Allen Brunton, Alpharetta; Daniel Howard Waymont, Alpharetta.

Vanderbilt University - Andrew Hard, a Lanier Scholar, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Piano Performance and Economics.

Providence College - Lauren Jacobs of Alpharetta received a bachelor's of arts degree in elementary/special education.

University of the South - The following local students were awarded degrees: Padraic Bailey Chisholm, Alpharetta, bachelor's degree in mathematics; Jessica Lynn Hood, Alpharetta, bachelor's degree in political science.

Millsap College - David Bernard Hutzel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick J. Hutzel of Alpharetta, graduated with a bachelor's of business administration.

Flagler College - Jennifer Grant Ware of Roswell was awarded a bachelor's degree in communications.

2001 Chattahoochee High School graduate, Dorothy (DJ) Aszman, graduated with Honors from Kennesaw State University this spring. She has accepted a job with McEachern High School in Cobb County and will be teaching freshman Math in the fall. DJ has been an Alpharetta resident since 1994.

University of Pennsylvania - Dean's list for 2007-2008 academic year: Sam Reid, son of Richard and Mary Ann Reid of Milton. The 2005 home school graduate is a senior majoring in economics.

University of Iowa - Dean's list spring semester: Sean Howard Ehni, Alpharetta; Katherine Anne Krick, Alpharetta.

Connecticut College - Dean's list spring semester: Samantha M. Herndon of Roswell.

Vanderbilt University - Andrew Hard, a Lanier Scholar, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance with a second major in Economics. Andrew, a 2004 graduate of Centennial High School, is the son of Jeff and Kathy Hard of Johns Creek.

College of the Holy Cross - Colleen Mary Schaefer was named to the spring semester dean's list.

Providence College - Lauren Jacobs, Alpharetta, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2008 semester.

U.S. Naval Academy – U.S. Navy Ensign Sean Anthony Papso, son of Tony and Laura Papso, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Navy. Following graduation, ENS Papso has been assigned to Pensacola Naval Air Station where he will begin his training as a Navy pilot

Spring Hill College – Named to the spring semester dean's list from Alpharetta are Steven Shields, Anna Flood and John Kline.

Northwest College – Michael Lacey of Alpharetta was named to the 2008 spring semester honor roll.
