Chattahoochee High School's Sydney Marshall, the 6AAAAA Region Champion in both the 1600m and the 3200m races, earned third place at the Georgia High School Girls State Track and Field Meet held in May in Albany. Both were photo-finish races, personal records and new school records for Sydney. She ran the 3200m race in 10:59.41, breaking the previous record that had stood since 1996. She ran the 1600m race in 5:07.345, again breaking the school record that was set in 1998 by Katie Kelly, who is now one of Sydney's distance coaches.
