FORSYTH COUNTY -- The Avenue Forsyth has opened and, judging by the shoppers, the grand opening was a success.
Forsyth County Commission Chairman Charles Laughinghouse said he was happy with the results.
"It may be a downtime for the economy," he said, "but from all reports the Avenue opening exceeded their expectations. This shows people still have disposable income for shopping and dining."
Laughinghouse said the cost of gas is certainly helping all local businesses in Forsyth County.
"I think that the cost of gas is going to continue to help local businesses," he said. "I think it will encourage shoppers to investigate what we have here in this county."
