Chelsey Feldman of Chattahoochee High School and Han Jung of Alpharetta High School were the recipients of the Sally FitzGerald Scholarship presented by the North Fulton Council of PTAs during its annual Presidents Luncheon on May 9.
The $2,000 scholarship is given annually to two North Fulton high school seniors who have demonstrated academic and service achievement.
Chelsey will attend Vanderbilt University and plans to study economics. As a peer tutor and Governors Honors Program participant, she has made contributions to her community through her wide range of volunteer activities. Chelsey is features editor of the school newspaper, "The Speculator," and was a National AP Scholar. She is the daughter of Ellen Feldman and Russell Feldman, both of Johns Creek.
Jung, the son of Yeong Joon Jung and Munsuk Jung of Alpharetta, will attend Georgia Tech in the fall to study chemical engineering. He has served in the Korean community as a translator for not only his school and family, but for his church pastor, translating sermons from Korean to English. An accomplished woodwind musician, he plans to play in the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Marching Band.
North Fulton Council President Carolyn Briner noted applications for the scholarship were up 65 percent over 2007, with many deserving candidates.
