Alpharettan fined for importing leopard skin
May 07, 2008
ATLANTA -- Alpharetta resident Wayne Taliaferro must pay a $20,000 fine and will be on probation for one year on a misdemeanor charge of illegally importing a leopard skin and skull from South Africa, a violation of the federal Endangered Species Act.

The 56-year-old Alpharettan was sentenced Monday by U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan J. Baverman on his guilty plea entered Feb. 11.

He must forfeit the leopard skin and skull.

United States Attorney David E. Nahmias said, "We treat seriously violations of federal wildlife laws, and we are especially concerned about violations that involve endangered species."

Ridiculous

It's not like this man literally attacked, killed, and skinned a leopard.

He bought it.

Enough said, leave him alone.
