Chattahoochee High School head varsity baseball coach Tim Lemons will hold a 2008 summer baseball camp at CHS for grades 3 through rising ninth. Campers will be grouped age appropriately. The camp is June 2-5 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and the fee is $150. Registration for seventh and eighth grade Jr. Cougar tryouts will begin at this camp. Also, the Chattahoochee High School Dugout Club is accepting applications for coaching positions in its seventh and eighth grade Junior Cougar Baseball feeder program for Spring 2009. City offers summer camps
Registration is underway for the city of Johns Creek's Summer Day Camp program, open to children ages 6-12.
The program, available to city residents only, offers campers a week filled with games, arts and crafts, entertainment, field trips and more. There are four one-week sessions available including June 2-6, 9-13, 16-20 and 23-27. The camp operates at Findley Oaks Elementary School from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration is limited to 50 campers per week with a ratio of one counselor for every 10 campers. The cost is $200 per week.
Registration forms will be available online at www.johnscreekga.gov or call 678-512-3200 to request a form by mail. Proof of age (birth certificate) and residency (utility bill) is required for each camper. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
The Recreation and Parks Department is also seeking camp counselors, age 18 or older. If interested, call 678-512-3200.
Movies in the Park return to Newtown Park
Bring a blanket and picnic basket for this year's Movies in the Park. The first movie is scheduled for May 24 at Newtown Park featuring "Bee Movie," an animated comedy starring the voices of Jerry Seinfeld and Renee Zellweger.
The second movie night takes place June 28 at Ocee Park. The title has not yet been announced.
Children's activities are available from 7 p.m. until the movie starts at dusk. Food vendors will also be available.
Movies in the Park is sponsored by Northside Hospital Forsyth, Atlanta Babies and Kids, and Southern Outdoor Cinema, along with Country Boy Trailers, WSB AM 750 and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream.
JCCA Meeting May 8
The Johns Creek Community Association [JCCA] will hold its monthly Community Zoning Information Meeting to allow JCCA member associations and the Johns Creek community at large to obtain more information on zoning cases.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the EBC Office and Conference Center, 11330 Lakefield Drive, Building Two, Suite 200, in Johns Creek.
The zoning case will be The Woodlands at Johns Creek. The request is rezone 38.81 acres in Johns Creek Technology Park from M-1A (Industrial Park) to A (Medium Density Apartments) Conditional to allow for a 399 unit apartment complex with approximately 475,000 total square feet located within three stories.
Star Diner will also make a presentation regarding a variance application about exterior construction, which will be heard by the Johns Creek Board of Zoning Appeals.

Fire Department recruiting this month
Johns Creek Fire Chief Joseph Daniels is launching recruiting efforts for the city's Fire Department later this month. The department needs approximately 65 firefighters when it expects to begin operations in August.
