Northview baseball players arrested

JOHNS CREEK --Two senior Northview varsity baseball players were arrested at school April 21 on charges they vandalized a fellow student's car off campus in early March.

In addition, one of the young men was charged with aggravated battery because he allegedly head-butted another student in the mouth who was trying to restrain the boy from further damaging the car.

The 17-year-old suspect, charged with aggravated battery, spent two nights in Fulton County jail before he was released on $20,000 bail.

Teammate Chris Shaive, 18, who has signed a scholarship with Georgia College and State University at Milledgeville, was charged with criminal damage to property in the second degree and was released on $5,000 bail.

It is the policy of Appen Newspapers Inc. to not publish the name of any suspect under 18.

According to the incident report, the 17-year-old victim received a text message from his ex-girlfriend's phone asking to meet that night. That girl is now the girlfriend of the 17-year-old suspect who was arrested, according to the report.

About 20 minutes after responding to the text, the suspect and Shaive showed up and allegedly started keying the victim's new 2008 Mustang convertible and smashing its windows.

Witnesses at the scene identified the two students, but they were not there when police arrived. Both students were arrested seven weeks later at Northview High School at 10:30 a.m.

Robert Hunter, athletic director for Northview High School, said both players are suspended from the team pending the outcome of their court appearances.

"That's when eligability will be determined," he said.

In ealier incidents involving Northview football players arrested for a break-in spree that occurred at Thanksgiving, 2007, Prinicpal Peter Zervakos said if found guilty of charges, students could be barred from representing the school in any activity.

Northview High School's administration would not comment on whether the two teens were suspended from school.

Maybe before you decide to write an article you should get your facts right. Not very smart.

how many times do you people need to be told. just because this was put in the media doesn't mean these kids actually did it. There is no evidence as to if he really did it or not. So if you werent there, which you obviously werent, then stop acting like children and get your facts straight.

It's already in the paper so..

getting his photo online is part of the punishment for his crime so you need to deal with that. Headbutting and vandalism? These hoodlums deserve what they gets.

something this stupid. Would you want your new car keyed? I didn't think so.

Strong lesson needed for these stupid kids.

Necessary?

Is it really necessary to publish a picture of this student. Don't you think the parents are going through enough without this public humiliation? I know he is at fault but really?
