Roswell prepares for Vietnam Wall replica
May 06, 2008
Local dignitaries will join with community veterans organizations and the Roswell Funeral Home on Friday, May 9 to break ground on the site of The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall.

The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall is a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., which will be on display at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell over July 4th weekend.

Sponsored by Roswell Funeral Home and Green Lawn Cemetery, the local Dignity Memorial provider, this free community event will be open to the public 24 hours a day on July 4-6.

Friday's groundbreaking will begin at 3 p.m. with Congressman Tom Price and the Mayors of Roswell and Alpharetta scheduled to attend.

The Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall is a three-quarter scale model of "The Wall," the most celebrated component of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It is dedicated to all

Americans who served in Vietnam and honors all veterans of the U.S. military.

The faux-granite replica is 240 feet in length and 8 feet high. Similar to the actual memorial, the names of the more than 58,000 Americans who died or are missing in Vietnam are inscribed on its black, mirror-like surface.
