May 02, 2008 An eight-hour driver safety program, designed by AARP, will be presented at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church on two Thursdays, May 22 and May 29 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The nationally recognized course is open to the first 25 people, ages 50 and older, who register at the church office and submit a check payable to AARP for $10. The fee includes a workbook and all other materials.
Those completing the course will receive a certificate that some insurance companies will honor for up to a 15 percent discount on car insurance for the next three years.
Ron Feldman, a member of the church and a certified instructor, will teach driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road. Students will also learn how to adjust their driving to compensate for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. Students are asked to bring their own bag lunch and drink.
Alpharetta First United Methodist Church is in downtown Alpharetta at 69 N. Main Street. For more information or to register, contact the church office at 770-475-5576.
