April 07, 2008 On the eve of returning to his position as Director of Public Safety, Interim City Manager Chris Lagerbloom said his time in the top spot at Milton has "given [him] a whole new appreciation for what council faces."
"If you had told me a year ago that I could tell you the difference between a sewerable vs. a non-sewerable basin, I would have said you were crazy," said Lagerbloom, who seemed positively giddy at the prospect of returning to his police work.
But that important distinction was just one of the things he learned. Others included understanding the challenges in city funding and land use, both of which he said will only improve his abilities as a Public Safety Director.
Lagerbloom said he'll miss being able to have candid conversations with council and working closely with Mayor Joe Lockwood.
"It's a unique relationship I've fostered," he said. "It's been fun."
