LeasePlan promotes Bush to vice president

LeasePlan USA promoted Kristofer Bush to vice president, marketing. He will report directly to Jon Toups, national vice president, sales, marketing and client relations.

Bush, a nine year veteran of the Alpharetta-based vehicle leasing and fleet management solutions firm, will be responsible for the direction of the strategic and tactical execution of LeasePlan's marketing department, which encompasses brand management, research, and association and key vendor management. He will also oversee the company's electronic marketing efforts and lead the steering committee for LeasePlan's client advisory board, Future Directions.

Inhibitex reports $41.5M in losses

Inhibitex, an Alpharetta pharmaceutical research company, reported $41.5 million in losses for 2007.

Inhibitex is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing products that can treat and prevent serious infections.

"The past year has been transformational at Inhibitex, and one in which we achieved a number of strategic milestones, augmented our pipeline and advanced our lead antiviral program into the clinic, all while reducing our burn rate," said Russell H. Plumb, president and chief executive officer. "As we enter 2008, our pipeline consists of exciting and differentiated antiviral programs for the treatment of shingles, HIV, HCV and CMV."

Anodyne acquires Charlotte firm

Anodyne Health of Alpharetta, a provider of healthcare business intelligence technology and revenue cycle services, has acquired Charlotte, N.C.-based Piedmont Healthcare Management Group (PHMG), a healthcare management and technology company, effective Feb. 19.

The acquisition combines PHMG's suite of proprietary technology, comprehensive practice management services and particular expertise within emergency medicine with Anodyne's revolutionary business intelligence solutions and industry-leading experience within revenue cycle management, to create a unique solution for managing the business side of healthcare.

Employees of the former PHMG entity will remain in their current Charlotte offices.

Alpharetta office hands over $50K

Aetna recently presented a $50,000 grant check to the Center for Health Transformation Foundation, the most recent development in Aetna's efforts to improve diabetes education and awareness in Georgia.

The Aetna grant will support the Center's Healthy Georgia Diabetes and Obesity project. The grant will go toward increased diabetes screening, as well as recruiting physicians to participate in Bridges to Excellence, a nationally recognized quality improvement program that uses established standards of care to reward physicians who consistently implement best practices.

HealthPort names Grazzini as CFO

Brian M. Grazzini has been appointed chief financial officer of HealthPort.

He will assume responsibility for the fiscal functions of the Alpharetta company, including the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and directing of the organization's fiscal functions and performance. He will also be responsible for the Employee Relations and Legal Departments.

Grazzini has more than 23 years of experience in corporate finance and operations, with 13 of those years in the healthcare services industry.
