CUMMING -- A company that turns waste into energy plans to open its corporate headquarters in Forsyth County.

Global Waste-To-Energy, Corp (GW2E) will open its global corporate headquarters in Forsyth County, according to the Cumming–Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce. Pending contractual negotiations, the veteran-owned company will hire at least five employees to start and initially invest approximately $1 million for the creation of its corporate offices.

"We are responsible for our children's future," said Paul Hester, Managing Member of GW2E. "Our goal is to leave this planet cleaner and safer than what we inherited and we believe that our Biosphere product and 'zero waste philosophy' will do just that."

"Our intent is to not only produce green/renewable energy for use throughout the world but to also reclaim unusable land previously utilized for municipal solid waste landfills," said Douglas Scott, managing member of GW2E. "We have begun this process with our $35 million pilot project in Lamar County in conjunction with the Lamar Municipal Solid Waste Authority and Georgia Power and hope to have a similar arrangement here in Forsyth County for landfill reclamation."

A biosphere is a gasification process developed by Christopher A McCormack, founder of GEECF Global Environmental Energy Corp. The process begins with waste going into the Biosphere chamber and being transformed into a clean combustible gas. This gas is used to produce electricity in a combined cycle gas/steam turbine. Heat generated by the process can be used to produce electricity, superheat steam, heat boiler water and distill/desalinate seawater. The Biosphere Gasification Process is a 30-year proven technology currently deployed internationally. The process incorporates this technology to:

• Eliminate solid and liquid waste;

• Reduce current landfill volume by 93 percent;

• Consume 172 tons of waste per unit/day;

• Recover brown field and landfill site for development;

• Generate 7 to 10 megawatts of continuous power/hour;

• Distill up to 53,000 gallons of drinking water per unit/hour;

• Produce inert ash to be sold to the commercial and industrial market.

GW2E will operate locally through Americas Waste-To-Energy (www.aw2e.com). AW2E will be responsible for all of the Americas with a product territory from Canada to Brazil. Other company spin-offs will include Europe, The Pacific Rim and Asia.

"We are thrilled that GW2E has decided to establish their global corporate headquarters here in Forsyth County," said David Seago, chairman of the Chamber's economic development committee. "As our citizens participated in a community visioning process last year, quality of life and 'green' living was a top priority. This company is on the leading edge of not only environmentally conscious business practices but also genuine improvement in the quality of the green spaces in which they operate."

Chamber officials said Kathy Oxford with the Ga. Department of Economic Development and Forsyth County Manager Rhonda O'Connor helped bring the company to Forsyth.
