Erickson Retirement Communities recently announced plans for the continuing care retirement community that will consist of approximately 1,500 independent living units, two community buildings, 150 assisted living units and 100 skilled care units.
The buildings are currently expected to be two neighborhoods containing about seven residential buildings with 100 to 125 independent living units.
James McCoy, Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, said this development would help serve the more than 11,000 people in the county aged 65 and older.
"Erickson's Forsyth County development is an exciting new amenity to our community that is already a fantastic place to live and this will really help us make it better for a whole new group of folks," he said. "There is a large enough market for existing residents to use the facility, and will draw from all over the Southeast."
The development will have numerous amenities including a fitness center, indoor pool, medical center, pastoral staff, chapel, hair salons, transportation to nearby shopping and more.
"I believe that anytime we are able to offer people in our community versatile options in housing, it's a good thing," said Nicole McCoy, Executive Director of the Forysth County Community Connection. "Erickson seems to be willing to work with our community and work with what our community believes is thoughtful development."
According to a report provided by the company, Erickson Retirement Communities have represented an average of $200 million in private capital investment and create 1,300 new jobs. There are also expenditures equal to more than $20 million into the local economy.
