February 11, 2008 Navy awards $5M contract
MACTEC Engineering and Consulting of Alpharetta won a $5 million, five-year contract with the U.S. Navy's Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast.
According to MACTEC Program Manager Bill Barnard, the firm will provide various air/radon services for NAVFAC Southeast.
Hammond takes vice president role
Abel Solutions promoted David J. Hammond of Alpharetta to vice president of Solutions Delivery. He assumes responsibility for management and delivery of all Abel Solutions information worker and application development projects.
He is a graduate of Emory University's Goizueta Business School and a member of the board for the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Leadership North Fulton.
Pollock takes critical care post
Gary Pollock, RN, has been named director of Critical Care for Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
He is responsible for administrative management of critical care areas including the Intensive Care Units at both the main campus and Lanier Park campus, Intermediate Care Unit, Ronnie Green Heart Center, Chest Pain Observation Unit, Progressive Cardiac Care Unit and Telemetry.
He and his family are relocating to Cumming.
Suwanee psychiatrist joins hospital staff
Psychiatrist Thomas G. Cobb, MD, joined the staff at Laurelwood, Northeast Georgia Medical Center's mental health and substance abuse treatment center.
He earned his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. He lives in Suwanee with his wife and two children.
Dr. Cobb will be seeing outpatient clients ages 16 and above. His clinical interests include anxiety, depression and bi-polar illness.
Optometry board approves licenses
The Georgia State Board of Optometry voted to accept one licensee's reintatement and accepted another license by examination.
The license of Duluth's Erich Bauman was reinstated, while Ricardo Y. Fukuzato of Cumming received his license by examination.
Historic Downtown Alpharetta cooking
The downtown Alpharetta historic district is the site for a special cooking-related event.
The Prospect House at 31 Church Street is the site for the event Saturday, March 1, from noon to 3 p.m. Twigs and Lace gift shop will be the host, with other downtown businesses providing vignettes.
Several Atlanta chefs will be on hand to sample some of their dishes featured in "Atlanta Cooks at Home" cookbook. Autographed copies of the cookbook and the Junior League of Gwinnett's "At Your Service Cookbook" will be available for purchase.
Assad completes 14-week course
Ryan Assad of Re/Max Greater Atlanta, successfully completed a 14-week training course with Brian Buffini and Co., America's largest real estate training company.
Assad works in the North Fulton/South Forsyth area.
