February 05, 2008 With Super Tuesday well underway, Fulton County registered voters line up to have their say on whom they would like to see as the next U.S. President -- and for the most part it's been a breeze.
The apparent exception to an easy election in North Fulton is the Alpharetta Fire Station No. 2 off Windward Parkway, which only had two poll workers mid-day and an hour wait to cast a ballot.
A lack of poll workers in Alpharetta is a problem the Fulton County Department of Registrations and Elections has often encountered.
"We're covered at most precincts, but some of them are harder to staff, especially up in Alpharetta," said Dwight Brower, with the Fulton County Department of Registrations and Elections. "It's hardest to recruit up in the northern part of the county."
As far as other problems go, Fulton is dealing with technical issues as they arise.
"There are always a few problems on election days," Brower said. "Problems with equipment and such, but you deal with it and send someone out there to fix it as soon as possible."
Despite those slight bumps in the road, Georgia's Presidential primary marches on. Only time will tell what the turn out will be -- both in voter number and which candidate will take home top honors.
I went to New Prospect at 11am. It was me and maybe two others to vote at that time. I had no issues with ID. It was really no different experience than before. I showed a drivers license and that was it. -D.C. Aiken
I voted at the Crabapple government center at 9:00 am. There was no line. There were about half a dozen voters and an equal number of poll workers. I spent longer chatting with my neighbors than actually voting. The polls are always a good place to run into friends. -Stephanie Moss
Voting today was a breeze! I was behind some people from a retirement home but besides that no sweat! Plus the poll workers were very friendly! -Nicole Hasker
I voted at the Alpharetta Recreations Center. There was almost no line at 3 p.m. and it only took five minutes to vote. -Ray Appen
