Julio Franco signed autographs and spoke with children at Vickery Village Jan. 21 to help celebrate the grand opening of Kumon, a learning center. The event included free food and face painting while people learned about the new center.
Kumon employs a unique learning method designed to help each child develop the skills needed to perform to his or her full potential.
A tent was set up with food catered by Atkins Park, Peckenpaughs, Cincos, Sogno Gelato & Sidney's Italian. The event will feature prize drawings, tours of the facility and kids activities.
Kumon is the largest and most established program of its kind in the world. There are more than 26,000 Kumon centers across the world teaching about 4 million students.
Local Kumon centers are also in Suwanee, Duluth, Roswell and Alpharetta.
Kumon was founded in 1958 in Osaka, Japan by high school math teacher, Toru Kumon.
