While the six teenagers accused of 150 car break-ins are out of commission, Alpharetta still saw a 13 car break-in spree in neighborhoods of Kimball Bridge Road Jan. 9 through 11.
The first five break-ins were reported early Jan. 9 in the Park Brooke and Pine Walk subdivisions, near Kimball Bridge's intersection with Buice Road.
In all five cases laptops, DVD players or GPS systems were taken, along with cash and personal identification cards where available. Where cars were left unlocked, the thieves simply left the doors open. If the car was locked, a front or rear window was smashed. At least one victim reported hearing a crash around 1 a.m. Jan. 9, but thought the sound to be weather related.
Two days later neighbors in developments off Waters Road, which intersects with Kimball Bridge Road not far from the scene of the first incidents, reported at least eight cars being broken into.
These thefts also included broken windows and electronic or personal items such as briefcases or purses taken from inside the car.
A Mastercard from one theft was reportedly used at a Raceway Gas Station in Atlanta before the victim could cancel all of her credit and debit cards.
Strangely, in one case the suspects did not take an iPod or baseball equipment that was left in plain view of one vehicle, choosing instead to rifle through a roadside assistance kit.
One victim reported hearing her dogs bark shortly before 5:30 a.m. and noticed her exterior lights had been activated.
Police noted no suspects, leads or physical evidence at the scenes, though.
