December 27, 2007 Due to the numerous requests from the public, the Roswell Recreation, Parks Historic and Cultural Affairs Department is sponsoring a new program that will allow citizens to donate trees, benches and picnic tables in honor or memory of a loved one.
Through the Friends of the Roswell Parks these items can be given to beautify either city parks or the Roswell Historic District.
Benches for the Historic District are called "The Heritage." Each bench has a ductile cast-iron classic frame and costs $1,300. Benches for all other parks are called "Classic Wingline." They cost $675 and are a contemporary-style bench fabricated from Plastisol-coated expanded metal and steel rod with powder-coated tubing.
Picnic tables for parks are "Homestead Tables," Each table is 6 feet long with a welded tubular steel frame and surface mount, and cost $1,250.
A plaque indicating the message of the donor's choice is mounted on each of these items. Donations can also be made for hardwood trees to be placed in any city park for $450, which includes a freestanding plaque with a message.
Anyone interested in donating any of these items or for more information may call 770-641-3705.
