A Dahlonega man allegedly carrying marijuana tried unsuccessfully to run from deputies during a traffic stop.

Warren Gregory Head, 29, of Creekside Drive in Dahlonega, was pulled over off Ga. 400 after he was seen driving slower than surrounding traffic. When he was pulled over, deputies noticed “the odor of raw (unburned) marijuana from inside the vehicle.”

The deputy asked Head to exit the vehicle when the suspect allegedly continued walking toward the back of the car. As he reached the rear driver’s side door, Head allegedly tried to run away.

According to reports, deputies wrestled Head to the ground and eventually placed the struggling man in handcuffs.

A plastic bag of marijuana was found hanging out of the man’s underwear. Head was charged with possessing marijuana, obstructing officera and failure to maintain lane.

$8,000 in items taken from home

Deputies responded Feb. 1 to a report of a Tidwell Circle home burglary.

The resident told deputies the family returned home to find the front door had been kicked in. Several items had been taken including a $6,000 in necklaces and watches as well as a $2,000 HD TV.

No further evidence was found around the home, according to police reports.
