Toys for Tots pushes into record year

CUMMING - Imagine what Christmas morning would be like for a child if there was nothing under the tree?
The Atlanta Toys for Tots campaign has kicked off the 2009 season and has already received more toy requests than last year. Atlanta Toys for Tots will need a projected 900,000 toys to meet the needs of our children.
The Toys for Tots program is asking citizens to step up and join forces with the US Marines to ensure that a new toy is placed in the hands of every disadvantaged child in the Atlanta area.
There are several ways to get involved. Corporate partnership in Forsyth County is paramount in the success for the county.
T4T’s is asking businesses to place toy drop boxes at their place of business and to consider a financial donation. Businesses can also host special events, corporate toy drives for employees and supply links to www.atlantatoysfortots.com on their corporate Web site.
Individuals are asked to drop a new, unwrapped toy at one of the collection sites in their neighborhood or attend a Toys for Tots event and bring a donation. Volunteers are also needed to work weekends at the warehouse located at 1100 Laval Blvd, suite 110 in Lawrenceville.
In an effort to better serve the disadvantaged, a northern division of Toys for Tots was formed this year to help increase toy collection and distribution in Forsyth, Gwinnett, Barrow, Walton and Dawson. Toys and donations collected within these counties will be distributed in these very same counties.

To register this season to host an event, please visit the Web site at www.atlantatoysfortots.com and click on the Events tab.
To become a toy drop site, go to the Web site and “toy drop sites” and complete the form. Toys are being collected at all Publix, Toys R Us, UPS stores and Walgreens locations beginning Nov. 27. In addition, toys can be brought to Cumming Signs, Beef O’Brady’s, Good Ole Days, Troncalli Chrysler Dodge, Major Gravitt’s office and Northside Hospital in Forsyth. Donations can be mailed to 2700 Ivy Mill Drive, Buford, Ga. 30519.
To request a toy for your child, call 2-1-1 and you will be directed to the closest Toys for Tots distribution. All donations received by the Atlanta Toys for Tots are 100% tax deductible.
