Northside Hospital receives $22,500 grant

(click for larger version) | | November 18, 2009 Forsyth County - The Sport of Giving has given Northside Hospital-Forsyth a $22,500 grant for the expansion of breast care services at the hospital. A check was presented to hospital representatives at a Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebration at the hospital in October.
The grant will be applied toward the purchase of a new breast MRI table for the Breast Care Center at the hospital. A portion of the money also will go to printing breast cancer handbooks for patients and families.
Since 2007, The Sport of Giving, formerly VolleyFest, has been a generous supporter of Northside Hospital-Forsyth and, cumulatively, has contributed nearly $100,000 to the hospital's breast care services.
"The Breast Care Center at Northside Hospital-Forsyth has benefitted greatly by the generosity and vision of these tireless crusaders for a cure and we are privileged to be associated with them," said Lynn Jackson, administrator, Northside Hospital-Forsyth. "They have made it their mission to understand the needs of our facility and have been resolute in their determination to make sure that the finest diagnostic breast care services are available right here in our community."
The Sport of Giving is a local, nonprofit organization dedicated to raising monies and awareness in the fight against breast cancer care and prevention in Metro Atlanta. Through events such as the VolleyFest Tennis Tournament, SwingFest Golf Tournament and RunFest Run/Walk Event, the organization has donated more than $1 million to local groups.
Northside Hospital continues to be the leader in the fight against breast cancer, diagnosing and treating more cases of than any other community hospital in Georgia.
