Ashley N. Zuniga, a Northview High School student, received national level recognition from US Army Cadet Command as a recipient of the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement. This award is sponsored by the Legion of Valor of the United States of America and it is presented for academic achievement, leadership excellence and exceptional community involvement. The recipient of this award represents the very best of the 280,000 students enrolled in over 1650 Army Junior ROTC programs worldwide.

Zuniga is a senior with a 3.94 GPA. She was also recognized by the Board of Education in September for her participation in the National JROTC Leadership Symposium held on the campus of George Mason University, Alexandria, Va. This summer, Zuniga attended Girls State and the Naval Academy Summer Leadership Program in Annapolis, Md. She is active in National Honor Society and the 21st Century Leaders Club. Zuniga presented at the 2009 Georgia Career and Technical Education Conference on "Brain Based Learning and Teaching Strategies in the Classroom". As the recipient of the Legion of Valor, Zuniga is one of the top 1 percent of Army Junior ROTC cadets worldwide. She is seeking an appointment to the United States Naval Academy.
