The suspect, Tiquela N. Murray, was arrested at the Publix on Ga. 9 after stopping in twice and purchasing nine $100 American Express gift cards, plus other items. On her second visit though, police were waiting on Murray, suspecting she was buying the gift certificates with fake bank cards.
Officers reported the first card she handed over allegedly had a different account number than the one assigned to the magnetic strip on the back. Of the 14 others she had on her, seven returned with similar results. The others were declined.
Murray's 2009 Nissan Rouge was also searched, and police reported finding $1,000 in American Express gift cards, $100 in Shell gas cards, five more bank cards, receipts for multiple Publix location transactions, a GPS with several Publix locations programmed in and a narcotic for which she allegedly did not have a prescription.
Murray was charged with eight counts of forgery, transaction card fraud and possession of Phentermine. She left Fulton County Jail Oct. 28 on a $27,000 bond.
