Brownies finish service project
|
November 04, 2009 The Brownie troop at Shakerag Elementary (third grade Troop 27329 from Oakwood Circle Service Unit) finished a recent service project and trip to the Forsyth County Animal Shelter on Oct. 21.
The group collected donations (food, leashes, treats, old towels, newspapers, etc) for the shelter and also made a monetary donation from the cookie proceeds from last year. Last spring, the troop decided to spend some of the cookie money on a trip for fun and learning and some of it towards a community service project.
The girls came up with ideas and voted to go to the Coca Cola Museum and visit the animal shelter.
At the animal shelter, the girls took some dogs for walks and fed them homemade dog biscuits the troop made at the previous meeting. They also got to hold some cats and gave them some treats.
