Seniors honored as 2009 YMCA volunteers of year
|
November 04, 2009 ATLANTA – The Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA is recognizing its seniors group as their 2009 volunteers of the year. The seniors were honored at the Metro Atlanta YMCA annual volunteer recognition dinner Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
The group of more than 40 members is known for bringing joy to the members of the Alpharetta YMCA.
The seniors created various ways to raise funds for the YMCA Partner With Youth annual campaign, which provides assistance for those who cannot afford the full cost of YMCA programs. The Knitting Club and Granny's Bake Sale raise money for the Partner With Youth campaign.
"Partner With Youth is our favorite aspect," said Jane Cox, a member of the seniors group. "The different YMCA programs give the kids something to do when school is out, and they can talk about the activities with their families."
The YMCA is a charitable organization open to people of all abilities, ages, beliefs, cultures, faiths and incomes. Financial assistance is available. For more information, visit iay.ymcaatlanta.org, or call 770-664-1220.
