ROSWELL - Mayor Jere Wood will face challenger David Tolleson, a City Council veteran, in a runoff election on Dec. 1 for the mayor's seat.
Wood had almost 9 percent more votes than Tolleson, but that was still nearly 10 percent short of a majority needed to win the election.
Lori Henry leaves City Council after her unsuccesful bid for mayor. But her 2,800 votes were more than enough to send the race into a runoff.
Betty Price follows her husband's footsteps into the political arena, winning the special election for Roswell City Council Post 3. The wife of Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., her 6,329 votes gave her an easy win against challenger Craig M. Voth.
Incumbent Kent Igleheart held onto his Post 4 seat, narrowly defeating Jim Pollak. The 60-vote difference was enough to give him a majority of the votes.
Jerry Orlans sent his opponent, Lee Fleck, to defeat, to keep his Post 5 seat.
Nancy Diamond's two opponents weren't enough of a challenge to even threaten a runoff, as she won more than 67 percent of the votes cast for the Post 6 City Council seat.
