Book signing to benefit 'Lily's Run' fund
|
November 03, 2009 Forsyth County – Gina Izmaylov read the story on "Lily's Run" in Appen Newspapers benefiting Lily Anderson and wanted to help.
Anderson, 8, was diagnosed Sept. 10 with advanced neuroblastoma cancer in the form of a large tumor in her abdomen. Izmaylov wanted to donate 1,000 books written by her two daughters to be given to runners and walkers taking part in the Lily's Run event held Oct. 11, but logistics and time proved to be a factor in preventing this from happening.
Instead of being donated to participants at Lily's Run, the books have been sent to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Georgetown University Hospital, Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock and Brenner Children's Hospital in North Carolina in Lily's name. Michelle Izmaylov, currently a medical student at Emory University, published "Dream Saver" and Nicole Izmaylov, currently at Webb Bridge Middle School in Alpharetta, published "Ronnie and BB."
Two book signings will soon be held with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Lily's Run Fund. For more information on Lily's Run, visit www.active.com and search for "Lily's Run." November Book Signing
