Costa named Deputy of the Month

Forsyth County - Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff William Costa has been selected as the South Precinct's Deputy of the Month for September 2009, South Precinct Commander Capt. Ron Freeman announced.
Costa, who has been with the Sheriff's Office since July, 2008, was selected among his peers for his outstanding work and the excellent customer service he provides.
According to Freeman, on Sept. 22, Costa was dispatched to a Wachovia Bank to investigate a possible forgery in progress. He made contact with the bank manager, who pointed Costa to the suspect.
As a result of his quick action, Costa was able to place the suspect under arrest on several felony charges. His arrest resulted in the breaking up of a widespread fraudulent check cashing ring in the Atlanta area.
"Costa's actions portrayed the professionalism the Sheriff's Office expects from its Deputy Sheriffs," Captain Freeman said.
During the year, each Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Precinct recognizes a Deputy of the Month. At the end of each year, a Deputy of the Year is selected from the 12 monthly award winners.
