Neighbor shoots first, asks questions later in Forsyth County
|
November 03, 2009 A Michaels Way resident called Forsyth deputies Oct. 25 after her neighbor shot her miniature poodle in the neck with a BB gun.
The dog had gotten out of the house while its owner was doing yard work, she said. It ran into a neighbor's yard a few houses down, then came running back bleeding from its neck.
A deputy spoke with the neighbor. He allegedly admitted to shooting the tiny dog in the neck with a BB gun at close range "because it was using the bathroom" in his yard.
"[The neighbor] asked me if this was wrong because he believed he had the right to shoot pets if they came into his yard," wrote the deputy.
"I advised [the neighbor] his actions constitute a Crime and if I would have seen him doing it he would be going to jail tonight," he responded.
The dog's owner was told she can take out a warrant against the neighbor for him to pay all medical expenses. The neighbor was advised to call animal control if he has a problems with pets.
