Night of vandalism leads to jail time
|
November 03, 2009 Forsyth Sheriff's deputies arrested two men Oct. 22 after the pair came clean about damaging a vacant house for sale in the Crystal Cove subdivision.
According to the incident report, the home is a foreclosure owned by Fannie Mae and is for sale. During the night, neighbors noticed someone had broken in and caused a heavy amount damage to the inside, including blood splatters on the walls, so they called police.
While a deputy was on scene talking to neighbors, he noticed 20-year-old Michael P. Cantrell, who lives four houses down, pacing nervously behind his cruiser and making phone calls.
Soon, Cantrell was joined by 21-year-old James P. Clingan of Dahlonega, who drove up during the deputy's investigation.
Cantrell reportedly told the deputy he'd done the damage to the house and showed him where he cut his hand on broken glass the night before. Clingan also allegedly admitted to smashing his way into the home and vandalizing it for fun.
Both were charged with burglary and taken to Forsyth County Jail.
