November 02, 2009 ROSWELL – Seeing more than 130 families daily, North Fulton Community Charities is running low on food and financial donations as the unemployment-rate surpasses ten percent. NFCC demand has increased to nine tons of food distributed weekly and over $100,000 in financial assistance distributed monthly. 1175 families currently qualify to receive aid from NFCC's Holiday Program.
"Right now we are able to assist families only with the funds that arrive in the daily mail...Food is also going out the same day it is donated," NFCC Executive Director Barbara Duffy said. "Once that amount has been given out, we tell families to check back with us tomorrow." For more information on NFCC, contact Vonda Malbrough at 770-640-0399 ex 215.
