Milton – If you passed through the Birmingham Crossroads this past Thursday afternoon around 5 p.m., you might have noticed a lot of traffic and activity at The Birmingham Produce and Market at the corner of Birmingham Highway and Birmingham Road.

If you looked closely, you may have even caught a glimpse of Brooke Shields or Kris Kristofferson filming on the porch at the produce market. They were in town for a feature film called "Destination Home." It stars Shields, Kristofferson, Aden Quinn and young actress Sammi Hanratty.

The movie is being filmed in various locations throughout the state, including several homes and farms — not to mention the Birmingham Produce and Market.

The story is of a young girl and her family who move from the city life back to find their rural roots in the country.

Jim McClure, along with his wife Karen and daughters Ashleigh and Kaylin, started the Birmingham Produce and Market in March at the historic Birmingham Crossroads.

The red 1920s-built landmark on the corner is known by many locals as Buice's Country Store.

The market sells a variety of fresh produce, free range eggs, local honey, baked goods, jams, jellies, as well as pine straw and firewood.

McClure and his family are natives of the nearby East Cobb/Roswell area. They live about a half mile away on a farm that they purchased in 1996.

"The Produce and Market has been very well received in the community" said McClure, who also continues to own and operate a thriving lawn care business in Roswell. "It was very flattering to see our produce market and community chosen as a place that portrays such a wonderful quality of life, and to have those qualities recognized by people who make their living identifying them."

McClure said it is clear that Milton residents are not the only ones who recognize the beauty of the people and places of our area.

"We have something special in this community," McClure said. "And we want to do everything possible to build and protect it."
