Alpharetta High is the regional champ (5A) on SAT in the Governor's Cup award

October 28, 2009 Alpharetta High School was named the regional champion in the Governor's Cup award for its performance on the 2009 SAT, winning a $1,000 grant for the school along with a trophy.
Regional championships awards were presented to high schools with the largest numerical improvement in SAT scores among schools in their GHSA region. Alpharetta High, which boosted its 2009 score on the SAT by 28 points over the previous year, represents the Class 5AAAAA region. Its overall score of 1686 was the fifth highest score in the state in 2009.
The Governor's Cup Challenge is a part of Perdue's efforts to improve students' performance on the SAT and their potential for success in post-secondary education.
