Children's Healthcare renames clinic
|
ATLANTA – The Scottish Rite Masons/Orient of Georgia recently made a $600,000 pledge to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to support the treatment of speech and language disorders. The $600,000 pledge will be fulfilled by gifts from individual Masons, Masonic lodges and their various fundraising initiatives. This generous gift will be added to recent gifts totaling $1.4 million already donated by the Scottish Rite Masons, and the speech and language clinic at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite will be renamed the RiteCare Speech and Language Clinic.
In 1915, the Scottish Rite Masons made a historic pledge to sponsor a hospital for children in Georgia. It was the first pediatric hospital in the world to be sponsored by Freemasonry. For nearly 100 years, the Scottish Rite Masons of the Orient of Georgia have made Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite one of their charities of choice.
Providing speech and language assistance through RiteCare Speech and Language Clinics is the national philanthropic focus of the Scottish Rite Masons. The Scottish Rite Masons have, for more than 50 years, leveraged their philanthropic capabilities to combat speech and language challenges faced by children in the United States. The renaming of the clinic at Children's aligns the Orient of Georgia with the national Masonic fraternity and allows this clinic to join more than 170 RiteCare clinics already established across the U.S.
Children's at Scottish Rite is now home to one of the largest RiteCare Speech and Language Clinics in the U.S. This gift from the Masons will support innovative technology, provide resources to help the clinic grow in national prominence and also help improve the lives of children throughout Georgia and the southeast.
