October 26, 2009 Forsyth deputies responded to a home on Bethel Road in Gainesville Oct. 15 to break up a fight between two men. Investigators caught up with one man as he was walking home. He said his wife was walking in the neighborhood on her way to Two Mile Park when a couple of dogs barked and growled at her. She told her husband, who grabbed a golf club — to protect himself from the dogs, he said — and went to talk to the homeowner. He said they got into an argument, during which the homeowner hit him in the chest, then took the club and broke it. The homeowner said the husband swung the golf club at him, so he took it and broke it.
"[He] said he was defending himself in his own yard and would do it again if necessary," wrote a deputy. Each man was advised of the procedure to press charges in magistrate court.
