Martins Landing home peppered with buckshot
|
October 26, 2009 Roswell — A Martin's Landing home that armed burglars tried to enter Oct. 8 was shot up nine days later with a shotgun and 9mm pistol, Roswell police reported.
Last week, it was reported that the home on Buckthorn Court was subject to an attempted burglary at about 4:30 a.m. by two armed suspects who couldn't get through the fortified front door.
The man of the house said he saw the men trying to get in on his surveillance monitor, and they were armed with a shotgun and pistol.
On Oct. 11 at about 11:45 p.m., they may have returned.
This time, the homeowner said he and his two female roommates were in the home when they heard a loud noise outside. "It didn't sound like much," they said, so they ignored it.
A few minutes later, a neighbor called and asked if everything was alright. That's when the homeowner went outside and noticed someone had shot at the house.
He said a white SUV drove off when he walked outside.
Police reported there were three shotgun shells found outside the home and 9mm bullet in the house.
As for a possible motive why someone would twice try and harm the residents?
The homeowner said he was "involved in a disagreement with another resident of the area concerning something that had occurred several years ago."
He also said "he had over $20,000 of jewelry in the house and suspected robbery might have been a motive as well."
Lt. James McGee, a spokesman for the Roswell police, said investigators are looking into why the home would be targeted twice in a little over a week. He could not comment on possible leads.
