Amanda Leigh Lipscomb and Jefferson Davis Upshaw IV were married June 13, 2009 at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta. Reverend Ronald J. Greer officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Melissa and John Lipscomb II of Johns Creek. She is the grandaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Melton Jr., of Paris, Tenn. and Colleen Lipscomb of Memphis, Tenn. She is a 2004 graduate of Chattahoochee High School and a 2009 graduate of Medical College of Georgia with a bachelor's of science in nursing degree. She is currently an RN with Atlanta Children's Clinical Center.
The groom is the son of Ann and Jeff Upshaw III of Sandy Springs. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Lewis of Birmingham, Ala., and Grace Upshaw of Memphis, Tenn. He is a 2004 graduate of The Lovett School and a 2008 graduate of University of Georgia with a bachelor's of science degree in sports management. He is currently working for Senior Connections.
The wedding party included: maid of honor Katie Pursley, friend of the bride; Laura Gowder, friend of the bride; Mallory Martin, friend of the bride; Michelle Lewis, friend of the bride; Jennifer Upshaw, sister of the groom; and Grace Upshaw, cousin of the groom. Flower girls were Molly and Abby Hamm, cousins of the bride, with Will Hamm, cousin of the bride, as ring bearer. Best man was Timothy Price, friend of the groom. He was joined by: Tyler Karlen, friend of the groom; Kyle Lipscomb, brother of the bride; Grant Yarbrough, friend of the groom; Eric Worrell, friend of the groom; and Hall Upshaw, cousin of the groom. Ushers were: Stewart Downey, friend of the groom; Mark and Scott Lewis, cousins of the groom; Hyatt Ratigan, friend of the groom; and Brendan Tolleson, friend of the groom.
Music was presented by soloist Caroline Darnell, friend of the bride, and church organist Scott Atchison.
A reception was held at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta. Following the honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Atlanta.
