September 28, 2009 ATLANTA – North Fulton companies and employees were among those honored in the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk earlier this month.
More than 13,500 corporate employees, their friends and families crossed the finish line in the event.
Verizon Wireless in North Fulton was honored for the highest overall participation for corporations with 1,000 to 1,499 employees. And employee Donna Sumner was honored as the first Masters Female with a time of 21:22. Kenn David of Newell Rubbermaid was first Masters Male with a time of 17:50.
Corporations even got to design their own T-shirts, and LeasePlan of Alpharetta was honored as "Most Colorful." Kimberly Clark had the "Best Incorporation of Event Logo."
"It truly was a great event," said Jeff Galloway, Olympian and director of the Corporate Run/Walk. "The support of the Atlanta business community is always spectacular, but it was even more powerful this year in light of the current economic downturn that has forced a lot of American companies to make cut-backs."
A food drive for the Atlanta Community Food Bank was also incorporated into this year's event.
"I cannot even begin to express how grateful the Atlanta Community Food Bank is for the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk's support of our mission to provide critical resources for low-income Georgians who suffer from hunger and food insecurity," stated Bill Bolling, founder and executive director of the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
