The 18-month-old bank recently opened its new headquarters in Alpharetta, joining branches in Duluth and Doraville.
Bill Short, president of Touchmark, said it focuses mainly on small Businesses, lending money to them and entrepreneurs. The bank also has a robust consumer offering, he said.
The $100 million bank raised its funds in the local community, and is owned by local people, he said. Seven of its 17 board members live in North Fulton. The bank board is diverse, with its members coming from all walks of life, he said, and are not just a bunch of folks who are in real estate.
"We have lots of capital. We are new, so we have very few problem assets. We very much have a lot of money to lend out, and so we would very much like to be a part of your lives," Short said.
Touchmark wants to help its customers and the community grow. As part of that, Short marked the headquarters' grand opening with a donation to North Fulton Community Charities [NFCC].
"We are going to make a down payment, if you will, on our investment in the community," he said.
Vonda Marlborough of NFCC said the help is appreciated, as record numbers of families come to the organization for help with food, clothing, school supplies and even rent and utility money. More than 120 families a day are asking for help, with $120,000 in aid given each month.
Brandon Beach, president of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce [GNFCC], said the group takes as its responsibility making sure businesses have the infrastructure available to be successful. And he promises the chamber will work to make sure it stays that way.
"It is great to do a bank opening, a grand opening of a bank," Beach said. "This chamber is all about economic development."
Alpharetta Mayor Pro Tem Jim Paine welcomed the bank on behalf of the 435 city employees, and said it was great to have Touchmark in the city.
Gary Russell of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, a former North Fulton resident, congratulated Touchmark on its opening.
"We're thrilled to see this growth," he said.
