September 21, 2009 Manning deploys
overseas
Army Staff Sgt. Barkett W. Manning has been mobilized and activated for deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq.
Manning, a psychological operations specialist/team chief, is normally assigned to the 310th Psychological Operations Company, Fort Gillem, Buford, Ga. He has 10 years of military service.
He is the son of Barkett P. Manning of Tybee Drive, Buford, Ga. His wife, Jessica, is the daughter of John and Ann V. Burns of New Brunswick Court, Suwanee.
The staff sergeant is a 1993 graduate of North Gwinnett High School, Suwanee.
Beecher graduates from training
Air Force Airman Michael T. Beecher graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Jutta Geers of Akins Way, Cumming. Beecher is a 2008 graduate of North Forsyth High School, Cumming.
Tise begins training
at Air Force Academy
Eric J. Tise has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. The six-week, two-phased orientation program must be successfully completed by the cadets prior to entering their freshman year.
He is the son of Timothy and Martha Tise of Casaroga Drive, Cumming.
Tise is a 2009 graduate of Forsyth Central High School, Cumming.
Miller passes training
at Parris Island
Marine Corps Pvt. Christon E. Miller, daughter of Shernae E. Miller Adderley of Alpharetta, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
Miller and fellow recruits ended the training phase with The Crucible, a 54-hour, team evolution culminating in an emotional ceremony in which recruits are presented the Marine Corps Emblem, and addressed as "Marines" for the first time in their careers.
Danek graduates
from Ft. Jackson
Second Lieutenant Troy Danek recently graduated the Adjutant General Basic Officer Leaders Course at Fort Jackson, South Carolina on Sept. 3.
The two month course prepares officers for their initial assignment in Human Resources and Administrative Management positions throughout various levels of the United States Army.
Danek will be assigned to the 43d Sustainment Brigade at Fort Carson, CO. Danek was a December 2008 Magna Cum Laude graduate of North Georgia College and State University where he was a member of the Corp of Cadets.
