Near car jacking ends in smashed van
|
July 10, 2009 What was apparently an attempted car jacking on Ga. 9 ended when the victim panicked and smashed his van into a light pole, said Forsyth deputies.
The victims, an Atkins Way couple, said they were driving north on Ga. 9 near its intersection with Hutchinson Road when a gray SUV "with shiny mag wheels" pulled up. The man inside pointed a pistol at them, they said, and began yelling "get out" in Spanish. The driver quickly pulled away into a parking lot at Ga. 9 and Ga. 20, smashing his van into a light pole while panicked, he said.
A deputy happened upon the damaged van while on routine patrol and got the story.
Neither victim could provide many details about the event, except to say that the suspect was light-skinned and bald.
