Teen arrested for car break-ins
July 06, 2009
Milton police charged an 18-year-old Union City man June 25 for allegedly breaking into unlocked cars and garages in the Atlanta National country club off New Providence Road.

The suspect, Darmaine L. Roebuck, was allegedly driving a stolen 2008 GMC Yukon taken from St. Ives Country Club in Johns Creek when police arrested him in Union City.

He also may be linked to other Crimes in Alpharetta, as that city's department had an investigative hold on him according to Fulton County Jail records.

Milton authorities won't say what led them to Roebuck — incident reports list only a glove and several bottles of Gatorade left in victims' cars as clues — because he may have an accomplice.

"We're still trying to find someone else," said Capt. Shawn McCarty. "We don't want our methods made public yet."

Milton police said they were contacted June 24 by homeowners in Atlanta National who complained their unlocked cars and garages had been burglarized. In total, nine homes were hit, with a number of items missing, including a 2006 Nissan Sentra that has yet to be recovered.

The Sentra was unlocked and had its keys in the ignition when Roebuck allegedly took it, said police. Some of the stolen items have been returned, but police are trying to recover all the loot, said McCarty.

Rosemary Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Johns Creek Police Department, said officers in that jurisidiction are preparing charges against Roebuck for the stolen car.

Roebuck remains in Fulton County Jail on 17 charges, including burglary, entering autos, theft by receiving stolen property, driving without a license and hit and run. According to Fulton Jail records, he was last arrested in late April for a host of similar charges.

pathetic
July 12, 2009 | 01:22 PM

Whats pathetic is the magistrate judges that keep giving thugs like this low bail so they get right back out to do it again.

On another note, dont leave your garage, house, or cars unlocked and you wont be a victim. This guy only went for easy targets like a car unlocked with the keys inside.

I think Milton PD did an excellent job catching this thug.
