| May 20, 2009 Kenneth Keaton spent many years serving his country, and now he is serving seniors in their homes.
Keaton and his wife, Philicia, opened Seniors Helping Seniors to serve Forsyth County, part of Gwinnett County in Sugar Hill and Buford, and Johns Creek.
The national caregiver and companionship organizing matches seniors who need in-home care services with seniors who provide them.
Kenneth Keaton retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years, having worked in logistics/supply chain management and electrical civil engineering. He has a bachelor's degree in Business management, as does his wife, Philicia.
The couple has worked as volunteers, primarily with seniors. Kenneth recently volunteered for Christmas in April and Habitat for Humanity. Philicia has worked with her mother in volunteer projects for seniors, and previously with the Center for Children in Southern Maryland.
"When Kennth retired, our goal was to purchase an opportunity that would enable us to contribute to the greater good while gaining a sense of self-fulfillment," Philicia said.
"Not only are we providing non-medical in home support to seniors who need it, but also giving seniors who can provide those services an opportunity to earn an extra income," Kenneth said.
Seniors Helping Seniors provides the following services: Companionship, transportation, light housekeeping, light cooking, yard work, house maintenance and small repairs, overnight stays (24-hour care) and respite care.
