Robbery victim suspects old flame's family
A Paddock's Mill homeowner's house was broken into sometime between Feb. 21 and 24, and the victim suspects his ex-girlfriend's sons.
According to Forsyth deputies, the victim said he'd been staying with his new girlfriend in Hall County because he was sick. He said she picked up a few things for him Feb. 21 but couldn't figure out how to set the burglar alarm. When he returned Feb. 24, a number of items were missing.
Among the things stolen were two gold pocket watches, a Rolex watch, a flat screen television, two chain saws, nearly 800 antique pocket knives, 800 CDs and 400 DVDs.
The victim said he suspects the sons because the burglars were selective in their loot.

beware of scams
In a case of something simply being too good to be true, a Cumming man told county deputies Feb. 20 he'd been swindled while trying to buy a truck through Craig's List and eBay.
The victim said he'd found a 2004 Toyota Tacoma truck on sale through Craig's List for only $4,300. He contacted the seller, who said the price was so low because he was going through a divorce and needed to get rid of it.
The victim said he received an invoice through eBay Motors Financial Division and sent the money. He has not heard anything back.
The cash was received in California, said the victim, but that's all he knows. He said getting the money back would be nice, but he'd rather see the seller get "caught and sent to jail."
Burglar wanted to redecorate
Forsyth County deputies reported Feb. 23 that someone broke into a trailer home on Hyde Road — but apparently not to steal anything.
According to the incident report, in the five days the owner was gone from the home, someone took the screen door off the trailer and placed it on the porch, then went inside and moved the curtains to the floor.
Some other things were also moved to the floor, said the victim, but nothing was taken.
You were kicking what where?
A Forsyth deputy who arrested a 22-year-old man at Pooles Mill Park in Ball Ground Feb. 23 received perhaps the lamest excuse in history when he asked what the suspect and his two friends were up to.
According to the incident report, the three men were found hiding under a bridge at Pooles Mill Road by a county park ranger. He called police.
When deputies arrived, they asked one of the suspects what exactly the grown men were doing underneath the bridge.
"He said they were kicking at bugs nests near the water," wrote investigators.
When authorities didn't buy that strange tale, the arrestee admitted they had been smoking marijuana in the park "all day" — which might have contributed to their hiding under a bridge.
The man who had the marijuana on him was arrested. The other two friends called for rides home.
