ALPHARETTA -- He sings about hanging out "way down yonder on the Chattahoochee," and now he'll have the opportunity to play not but a few miles from the river.
The Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park announced this week that country music superstar Alan Jackson will be headed to Alpharetta Oct. 4 for a concert as part of the Bud Light Concert Series. Jackson has been one of the biggest stars on the scene for the last two decades, selling more than 50 million albums to fans around the world.
This time, he's touring in support of his latest effort, "Good Time," which was released in March. The album sports his first number one hit since 2004 with the song "Small Town Southern Man." The title track also reached the top of the charts as the second single.
Growing up in nearby Newnan, Jackson has never strayed far from his roots, always looking back to the past for inspiration for his songs. Despite making it big in Nashville, Georgia has always been on his mind, and that will be on full display with this homecoming show of sorts.
