    Wrong Information
    August 06, 2013 | 09:23 PM

As usual, Ms. Waylock has written an article with the facts presented in a manner, so as to lead the reader to draw incorrect conclusions. Much like statistics you can skew the truth to meet whatever purpose you are inclined to achieve. She should be ashamed for being so biased as to throw her hat in with Fulton County.

Fulton Science Academy Middle School was denied a renewal of its charter petition in May 2012. This is not news. Further, NO ACTUAL evidence or witnesses were every presented to find that there was any financial or management issues. This was an opinion based on solely on heresay and slanderous statements.

After denial of its charter petition, Fulton Science Academy Middle School went private and expanded to Pre-K through 8th grade. It is now Fulton Science Academy Private School and is continuing its history of offering superior award winning academics just as it did when it was a charter school. In 2014-2015 it will be expanding to include high school grades, ultimately offering Pre-k through 12th grade.

At no time has the school ever stated that it was only going to be private for a year. That is pure fiction penned by Ms. Waylock. The school is private and presently intends to remain so. At no time has it drafted or petitioned the State Charter Commission for a charter.

As a private school, it can now dedicate itself to serving Gifted and Advanced students and focus on offering cutting edge gifted S.T.E.A.M. curriculum. Its staff can focus solely on teaching and achievement, while leaving all the politics and unnecessary bureaucracy behind.

It is starting its second year as a private school, has doubled its enrollment, and has added to its gifted curriculum. It has limited pre- k through 5th grade class size to 15 students and middle school grades only have 20 students per class for more individualized teaching. Foreign languages are taught to all grades and P.E. is offered every day. Art, music, robotics, and computers are taught every week to all grades. Even field trips have doubled. It has been able to do so much more as a private school simply because of the lack of politics. It is just amazing.

The school fully intends to move to its new campus in 2014-2015 and continue to thrive and add to its history of continued academic success.

I guess all the hoopla was just that since Fulton Science Academy never missed a beat. Everyone should be furious that Fulton County Board of Ed and the State DOE took away access to this kind of education from those that are not able to pay for it as a private school. However, everyone should commend the school for keeping the tuition as low as possible. It is just $10,000 a year. Amazing !!! Small, safe, focused on gifted education and results....Go FSA Private School.

Ms. Waylock should get her facts in order and present the news in an unbiased manner.

    Lets be honest Ms. Lassiter
    August 07, 2013 | 12:21 PM

Ms. Lassiter, I do hope your recent trip to Turkey was a delightful one. We have seen the different Gulen sponsored groups tour our country up until the recent civil unrest.
First I want to inform you that we have been watching this and Fulton Science Academy not only has witnesses but an audit of Grace Insittite (another Gulen operated front) When your MS was denied its charter for very good reasons, you went on the usual rampage as the "American" voice for the Gulen Movement. Which by the way is nothing new or novel. You then lost and became a private school.
Secondly, what transpired next was a default on the Wells Fargo Loan of $19 million which was prosecuted by Wells Fargo, fell into a foreclosure sale which was then picked up by your buddies TruGlobe investors for a mere $3 million.
Lastly, The high school was slated to close, the local Board of Education - working on behalf of the interests of American children, taxpayers had enough information on self dealings, past teachers came forward and in fact filed a lawsuit against the school, testimony, etc.,
Then in the usual Gulen style, they thought bribing with trips for the politicians, or taking this to the State board of Georgia would give them a reprive. In fact, the state kicked the can back to the community.

From what we understand the community (besides you of course) doesn't want this school. As an American, it is unfortunate you don't see or refuse to see how the Gulen Movement has manipulated a few students, parents and politicians and bypassed good standards of education. Incidently, they care less about Special Needs students and only want to focus on those that can further their agenda - they praise them with awards and low and behold American children who got C Ds at traditional public schools are now somehow getting straight As and told they will go to College (also on the Gulenist's dime)
If speaking Turkish and Dancing in Turkish is important for your child than continue at this school but do so as a private school.
Incidently, did you hear that the judge in Minnesota just ordered their Minnesota School of Science to be closed because they (Gulenists) asked 42 parents of Special Needs Kids to not return.

Maybe you should think about asking your buddies to service the Special Needs students (if they know how) instead of manipulating the numbers to appear that their students are some sort of scholars as they claim to be.

Angela Lassiter, get a life and open your eyes. You are a puppet of the Gulen Movement and no doubt a paid one like Dr. Rose Ebaugh, Dr. Jill Carroll, Karen Hughes PR Firm in Texas et al.

Good luck, when the community is against you, your battle becomes uphill. You make it out that the board of education is evil or incompetent or somewhow jealous of Fulton Science when that is untrue.

    PREDUDICE Is So UGLY
    August 07, 2013 | 02:23 PM

Yes, I have been to Turkey as I am sure millions of others have. I have also enjoyed international trips to other countries. So what? We have a varied and rich world to explore and I would encourage everyone to broaden their horizons and experiences whenever possible. I fell sorry that you are obviously so xenophobic. It's truly sad.

Second, it is true that the middle charter school ultimately defaulted on its bond debt, but that is what happens when your charter is denied by the county and state and there is no school to operate. Prior to that, for 10 years, the school paid all its bills, saved a healthy emergency account of approx. $750,000.00, and had a BBB Fitch rating. It was never at any time during the 10 years in the red. Further, there was not a single audit that could find any financial improprieties, even though one Fulton County audit was over 4 months long. The county tried really hard to find something financial and absolutely failed. I would say that really it was the county and state that caused the default, because if the charter had been renewed then they would have serviced the monthly payment and there would have been no default.

Third, I think it is pretty egregious and naïve on your part to accuse politicians of taking bribes. Which politicians would those be exactly? I would love for you to actually slander them by name and then have them file suit against you. It is always easy to stand behind a fake name and make generalized accusations, so that the less informed public can take up your cause out of fear.

Forth, if you really want to cast stones or accusations around about not servicing the needs of special needs children, then I think you should look to Fulton County Schools. Fulton County Schools and their administration are the ones that allowed the physical and mental abuse of many special needs students and then initiated a serious cover-up to hide the evidence. One student ultimately died. Maybe, you should investigate that. A court of law found Fulton County Schools guilty.

As for the school, their RTI plans, smaller size, the safe non-judgemental environment, and more focused individualized teaching style is the reason for their success in improving special needs student's grades when they were previously just a number and lost in the public school system. FSA MS's partnership with parents and the care that they showed those students is another reason for their success in this area.

Fifth, I am not a Gulenist. I think your trying to label me with some kind of name that indicates a certain religious affiliation and then trying to attach some kind of negative connotation to it does nothing but prove your prejudice. You really need to seek counseling.

After research, I have found that Mr. Gulen is a Muslim imam and teacher. I don't think he has his own religion and after reading about him I think he would be insulted to hear you insinuate such a thing. Dr. Charles Stanley is a Baptist preacher of equal renown. I don't think Christian schools that are opened are negatively accused or labeled as being Stanleyist.

Really it is immaterial and a completely erroneous accusation, since FSA Charter Middle School was secular and taught no religion. Upon closing, less than 30 out of over 500 students, were Turkish Muslims. Further, not one parent in 10 years ever claimed or accused that their children were taught religious or political ideology of any kind beyond what was prescribed in the Social Studies standards. You really need to stop making false accusations and insinuations.

As far as dancing in Turkish, I didn't know that was a style. Further, not once in three years did my child ever participate in dancing of any kind. My child also took Spanish, not Turkish, for his three years at FSA Middle School and came out with a HS Spanish credit. There were more Spanish teachers and classes than any other language taught at the school. To say you really need a fact checker is an understatement.

Lastly, I am not paid and I have never received compensation for my opinion or volunteer service. Nor am I anyone's puppet, as my husband and anyone that knows me can definitively attest to. However, as you do not know me you will just have to take my word for it.

I hope your conscience will one day stop you from spouting such ugly nonsense and lies. It is just wrong.

Go fight real issues not imaginary ones.

Brainwashing goes From Turkey to America
    August 10, 2013 | 07:44 PM

Ms. Lassetter you are looking like a fool. Have you not been reading the economist and other international news about Gulen's grip on Turkey's politics, education, judicary system and more? Are you not aware of the ongoing civil unrest by peace loving protestors against your Turkish buddies Hocaefendi?
I assure you that travel to Turkey is way less than a million a year. But this is nothing new or novel for the Gulen Movement they spend millions to send American politicians to Turkey and a few others showing them only selected portions of Turkey. Let us guess you visited a Turkish family and had a meal? Went to Gulen's Today Zaman? Went and saw the Grand Mosque, a conversion from a Christian Cathedrel.
Didn't the NY Times article on your precious school mean anything to you? Exposing the Grace Institute and the other issues like Ardem Arici who sits in Federal prison - that gave a loan to Fulton Science Acadmey via Sema Education Foundation.
Oh, there is so much more and it is not unimportant it is very important to the security and safety of Americans (You do care about your fellow Americans don't you?)
    http://www.economist.com/news/europe/21583312-harsh-verdicts-are-handed-down-ergenekon-trial-justice-or-revenge?fsrc=scn/tw_ec/justice_or_revenge_

You may get a short reprive, but you would be serving your fellow Americans better if you prepared them for the future closing of Fulton Science Academy as a charter or Tax supported school and told the fellow parents (those that are left) to look for other arrangements for their children.
Diehard fans like you don't come cheap, how much the paying you? As much as Karen Hughes the ex PR person for former President Bush or did they get a bargain from you because your kid attends school there and they waived the private school tuition.
Or perhaps they paid Dr. Rose Ebaugh and Dr. Jill Carroll more because they have Ph.d s and you don't?
Image, PR, marketing, and advertising are very important to the Gulencis.
They will lie, bribe, blackmail, manipulate to get their end result of increased share of power.
Good Luck to you Ms. Lassetter, you are in a very unpopular fight.
