ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Hopewell Jr. Beta Club students participated April 26 in the Alpharetta Relay for Life event that benefited the American Cancer Society.
The HMS Jr. Beta students raised $10,419 this year. Top individual fundraisers were Summer McDonald, who raised $800, Hailey Farbman who raised $470, Amelia Milender who raised $430 and Cynthia Messinger who raised $400.
Hopewell Jr. Betas were able to support fellow classmates Maggie Thielens and Colynn Vacko, whose parents are cancer survivors. They cheered them on as they made the first survivor lap indicating the start of the event.
Jr. Betas stayed up for 12 hours because cancer never sleeps. Under the direction of sponsors Erin Bolling and Stephanie Sosebee, the Hopewell Jr. Beta Club has raised over $50,000 for the American Cancer Society over the last nine years.
